One of our goals is to meet all of the neighbors in our apartment building before 2011. We have met one or two here or there, but we decided to make a house call to really get started. Luke met a lady from upstairs when he offered to help her bring in her groceries (how nice...) She said she didn't need help, but told him she was excited to meet him because she had once lived in the States for 2 years with her husband and would love to have us over some time.
Sunday night, we made some cookies and took them over to drop off and say hello. What followed was a real treat: 3.5 hours of Key People Hospitality, complete with 2 glasses of çay, local coffee (think triple espresso plus), and even a coke at dinner.
We met the whole family including husband, daughter, mother, and mother-in-law--all while watching a big soccer match on the big-screen tv.
It was a great time and we hope we've gained some new friends through the experience.
